Sunday 10/19/14: Drummer Tony Martucci returns to DC Jazz Jam!

tony-martucci-twinsPlease come out to the jam session this weekend as drummer and jazz educator Tony Martucci returns as our Monthly Master jazz artist.  This is Tony’s *fourth* stint as our special guest, having first sat in on drums in September 2012.  Come sit in with Tony and our terrific Third Sunday house band.

Sunday 10/12/14: Annual Tribute to Monk featuring Brent Birckhead on sax!

artworks-000026280930-4khsic-t200x200Saxophonist Brent Birckhead returns to the jam as Monthly Master jazz artist to help us celebrate our annual Monk Tribute (in honor of Thelonius Monk’s birthday) this Sunday.  Among other accolades, Brent has been named “Best Alto Sax” by the Washington CityPaper’s annual “Jazzies.”

Come sit in with Brent and the rest of our terrific Second Sunday house band, including new Second Sunday bassist Nicole Saphos.  And this week you should particularly enjoy our signature cocktail, the Blue Monk, our weekly $5 drink special.  We recommend it straight, no chaser.

Sunday 10/5/14: Elijah Balbed returns to DC Jazz Jam!

Elijah BalbedDC Jazz Jam kicks off its own “new year” (i.e., Fiscal New Year) with special guest Elijah Balbed joining the band as our Monthly Master jazz artist.  Elijah has been a jazz artist-in-residence at the Strathmore, and was named Best Tenor Sax by the CityPaper’s annual “Jazzies.”  Come sit in with Elijah and the rest of our terrific First Sunday house band!

Sunday 9/28/14: Pianist Harry Appelman returns to DC Jazz Jam

Sunday 9/21/14: Vocalist Delores King Williams joins the jam!

DeloresKingWilliamsPlease come out to DC Jazz Jam this Sunday as we are joined by Monthly Master artist Delores King Williams — a vocalist who has toured with internationally renowned artists, been a featured guest of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and has sung with the Capitol Steps, among many other things.  Come sit in with Delores and the rest of our terrific Third Sunday house band, including guest pianist Dave Kane!
