Sunday 7/24/16: Brad Linde returns to the jam on sax!

BradLinde2Come join the jam as Monthly Master jazz artist Brad Linde headlines the session this Sunday.  Brad is the founding director of the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, curated the jazz program at Atlas Performing Arts Center, teaches music at DC’s prestigious G’town Day School, and has been named the Best Baritone Sax player in the Washington City Paper “Jazzies,” among many other achievements and accolades.

Come join Brad and our terrific Fourth Sunday house band.  No cover!  6:30pm-9:30pm @ The Brixton (901 U Street NW).

7/17/16: Vocalist Akua Allrich returns to the jam!

AkuaTallThis Sunday (7/17/16), we are pleased to have vocalist extraordinaire Akua Allrich return to the jam as our Monthly Master jazz artist.  Among other accolades and achievements, the Washington City Paper has called her the best vocalist in the area in their Jazzies.

Sunday 7/10/16: Antonio Parker returns to the jam on sax!

AntonioParker2This Sunday (7/10/16), come out to the jam to hear Monthly Master jazz saxophonist Antonio Parker, returning to the jam as our special guest.  Among other accolades, Antonio was named by the Washington City Paper “Jazzies” as having the best jazz recording in 2012 and as the best alto sax player in 2014.

6/26/16: Al Strong joins the jam on trumpet!

Al-Strong-30This Sunday (6/26/16), come out to the jam to hear Monthly Master jazz trumpet Al Strong, join the jam for the first time as our special guest.  Al is a DC native who has played with all manner of national and international acts and now teaches jazz in North Carolina, among other musical endeavors.  Al occasionally makes his way back through DC and can be seen burning up the local jam scene, so we are glad to have him running the show all eve at The Brixton.

Sunday 6/19/16: JS Williams returns to the jam on trumpet!

JSW_001This Sunday (6/19/16), come out to the jam to hear Monthly Master jazz trumpet John “JS” Williams, returning to the jam as our special guest.  JS served as one of our “Young Lions” guests several years ago, and has since been named the Best Trumpet in the area by the likes of the City Paper Jazzies, among other accolades.
