Come join DC Jazz Jam to celebrate our 16-year anniversary, featuring some of the “OG Jammers” from our previous homes, Dahlak and The Brixton.

Up this week (11/23/25) is guitarist Geoff Reecer. Geoff was one of the first guitarists to “sub” in for the house band at the jam back in 2010, which inspired the entire “special guest” concept! Geoff will be joined by Alex Browne (bass) and Will Stephens (drums).

DC Jazz Jam is continuing its “Back to School” series, featuring house bands of students, faculty, and alums from jazz programs! And also in honor of our 16-year anniversary “OG Jammers” series, we are bringing back the George Mason Univ. jazz faculty and friends — since GMU was the original “Back to School” jam back in 2024.

This Sunday (11/16/25) features jazz faculty and friends from the GMU jazz program — including Shawn Purcell (guitar), Jeremy Fagen (sax), Phillip Todd (vibes), Ponenya Min (bass), and Clay Cottis (drums).

[Don’t worry pianists: We always have a full keyboard setup, as well!]

Continuing the series this week (11/9/25) is vocalist Jessica Boykin-Settles. Jessica was our very first special guest vocalist back in 2012 (at our original venue Dahlak), when she was the vocal jazz instructor at Howard University. It was a terrific jam where she also brought a crew of her talented students–some of whom are now themselves among the most well-known jazz singers in the area!

Jessica will be joined by Amy Bormet (keys), Grant Le (bass), and Will Stephens (drums).

[Don’t worry guitarists — We always have a guitar amp set up for those who want to sit in.]
