Sunday 8/11/19: 10-year anniversary “Cabaret Night” and fundraiser for Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation!

Number 10 birthday celebration candle against a bright yellow backgroundPlease join us at The Brixton this Sunday (8/11/19) as we begin celebrating TEN YEARS of the DC Jazz Jam with a special “Cabaret Night” jam with an extra hour of jamming (6:30pm-10:30pm) featuring vocalist, entertainer, and best emcee this side of the Mississippi, Mr. Aaron Myers, along with perennial Monthly Master jazz artist Shawn Purcell on guitar, the inimitable Chris Stiles on keys, former house band member Ed Hrybyk on upright bass, and jam organizer Will Stephens on drums.

The band will be in black tie for the evening.  Please come in cocktail attire or similarly slick evening wear!

As you all know, we always have no cover charge at the DC Jazz Jam.  We are making a one-time exception here for our 10-year celebration.  There will be a $5 recommended cover charge, all of which will go to the Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation to support its programming work and advocacy on behalf of musicians in DC.

Please also mark your calendars for the rest of our 10-year jam celebration, where we will have special house bands all throughout the month of September:

  • September 1, 2019: Young Lions jam feat. Gabe Wallace (sax), Steve Arnold (bass), Elijah Cole (guitar), and Eric Tapper (drums), and James Fernandez (keys);
  • September 8, 2019: Home-Grown House Band feat. Herb Scott (sax), Noble Jolley (keys), Evan Samuels (guitar), and Ethan Foote (bass), and Samuel Prather (drums);
  • September 15, 2019: Baltimore Crew feat. Lionel Lyles (sax) and others
  • September 22, 2019: The Original House Band (from 2009) feat. Peter Runk (keys), Mark Caruso (guitar), Percy White (bass), and Will Stephens (drums)
  • September 29, 2019: Deans of DC Jazz feat. DeAndrey Howard (trumpet), Bob Butta (keys), David Cole (guitar), Wes Biles (bass), and Nasar Abadey (drums)

Come out and toast 10 years past and (hopefully) many years to go!
