Starting in 2012, DC Jazz Jam has been proud to invite special “Monthly Master” jazz artists to join the house band every few weeks.  We have already enjoyed the stylings of top sax player Jeff Antoniuk, Strathmore Jazz Artist-in-Residence Seth Kibel (sax, clarinet), jazz legend Butch Warren (bass), renowned London-based player Gilad Atzmon (sax), hometown touring artist Kris Funn (bass), “Best Jazz Percussionist” Victor Provost (steel drum), Howard University vocalist Jessica Boykin-Settles, top trumpet player Donvonte McCoy, and the Airmen of Note’s Geoff Reecer (guitar).

There are only 6 weeks left in our grant period… and we look forward to being joined by the following Monthly Master jazz artists at our upcoming jams, starting THIS SUNDAY:

August 26th — Lyle Link (sax)
September 2nd — Tedd Baker (sax)
September 30th — Tony Martucci (drums)

Please save the date for these special jam sessions!

You can find our full Calendar here.

Please join DC Jazz Jam as we celebrate the 3-year anniversary of our weekly jazz jam session with an extended session Sunday from 6:30pm to 10:30pm!

The original “Dahlak House Band” of Peter Runk (keys), Mark Caruso (guitar), Percy White (bass), and Will Stephens (drums) will be joined by some of the “Young Lions” of the DC jazz community as our special guests — Elijah Balbed (tenor sax), J.S. Williams (trumpet), Corey Wallace (trombone), and emcee Aaron Myers.

Also hear the debut of the new DC Jazz Jam theme song, “18th Street Theme,” written pianist Oren Levine, one of the newest regular members of the house band.

This is a jam session not to be missed!
