This Sunday eve, please join DC Jazz Jam and Monthly Master Jazz Artist Blake Meister (right) as we celebrate legendary jazz bassist and friend of the jam Butch Warren, who sadly passed away last month. Blake serves as jazz instructor at the Peabody Institute, and his 2012 recording Septagon was named the best jazz album of the year by the Washington CityPaper.
Butch Warren (left) served for many years the house bassist at the Blue Note, and also played with the like of Thelonius Monk and countless others. He was a Monthly Master guest artist twice at the jam and also stopped in to share his talents numerous other occasions, and he will be missed in the jazz world and here in the DC area.
DC Jazz Jam is free and open to all musicians and appreciators. Sunday, Nov. 10th, 6:30pm-9:30pm at Dahlak (1771 U Street NW).
