This Sunday (10/20/24) features Duke Ellington School of the Arts jazz faculty and alums — including Reginald Cyntje (trombone), Michael Bowie (bass), Herb Scott (sax), Caleb Johnson (keys), and Terence Arnett (drums).

So come sit in with the band and throw your support to a great local joint! 6:30-9:00pm @ Haydee’s (3102 Mount Pleasant Street NW). No cover!

First up, this Sunday (10/6/24) features Peabody Institute jazz students — including a house band of Lucas Netto (sax), Emerson Borg (trumpet), Caleb Johnson (keys), Leo Sandoval (guitar), and Kevin Kearney (drums), along with Steve Arnold on bass.

(1) Special Outdoor “Art All Night” Jazz Quartet & Jam Session This Friday (9/27/24)!: DC Jazz Jam is excited to be part of Mount Pleasant “Art All Night” this year, right across the street from Haydee’s! Join us at 3103 Mount Pleasant Street (the old Addis Paris outdoor cafe space) from 6pm-10pm. The quartet will play from 6-7pm, and again from 8-9pm, and we will open it up for a jazz jam session between 7-8pm and again from 9-10pm. Featuring Jeff Antoniuk (sax), Darius Scott (keys), Percy White (bass), and Will Stephens (drums). Bring your horns!

(2) Washington CityPaper features DC Jazz Jam: DC’s longtime jazz writer Mike West put together a terrific article (link here) featuring DC Jazz Jam @ Haydee’s as part of Mount Pleasant’s growing and thriving jazz scene. The article also highlights Tibyron Quinn’s Tuesday night jam session at Marx Cafe, as well as the DC Jazz Collective’s regular Marx gigs.

Since July, DC Jazz Jam has been highlighting our outstanding jazz piano players. DC’s bench of jazz piano players is deep! It’s enough to give any other town #PianistEnvy.

The FINAL JAM of our Pianist Envy series this Sunday (9/29/24) is Bobby Jasinski, founding leader of the Hot Lanes Jazz Orchestra. Bobby will be joined by a terrific house band of Jordan Manley (sax), Zack Williams (bass), and Will Stephens (drums)..
