The jam is turning 14 years old this month! We are celebrating all through August and September with awesome pairings of special guests leading the jam–including Victor Provost (steel pan), Simon Baron (accordion), Nataly Merezhuk (violin), Dominique Bianco (voice), Seth Kibel (woodwinds), Frank Silva (woodwinds), and many more.

First up is this Sunday (8/6/23) with “French (horn), Don’t Kill My Vibe” featuring vibraphonist Chris Barrick and French horn player Abe Mamet.

Chris and Abe will be joined by a special First Sunday house band of Sammy Munguia (keys), Pete Muldoon (guitar), Mike Graham (bass), and Will Stephens (drums).

Come join the jam this Sunday (7/30/23) as vocalist Alison Crockett headlines the session for the first time, continuing a series of #SummerSongbirds in July. Among many other achievements and accolades, Alison last year began teaching voice and jazz at the Levine School of Music, leading the Capital City Voices and New Generation Jazz youth choir.

Alison will be joined by a special Fifth Sunday house band of Chris Barrick (keys), Alex Martin (guitar), Phil Ravita (bass), and Brendan Brady (drums).

Dominique has piled up a host of recent accolades, including being named Best Jazz Artist in the most recent Wammies, as well as serving as an Artist-in-Residence a the Strathmore and being a top-3 finalist in the Ella Fitzgerald vocal competition.

Dominique will be joined by a special Fourth Sunday house band of Howie Jung (keys), Dave Manley (guitar), Chris Hon (bass), and Julian Berkowitz (drums).

In addition to being a guest host herself a number of times, Jessica has also served as a vocal instructor for many of the talented vocalists that have come out to the jam over the years

Jessica will be joined by a special Third Sunday house band of Oren Levine (keys), Parker Speirs (guitar), Zoe Jorgenson (bass), and Kevin Kearney (drums).

Come join the jam this Sunday (7/9/23) as trumpeter Graham Breedlove headlines the session for the first time, as a special bonus to last month’s set of #BadassBuglers, featuring some of the area’s most amazing trumpet players!  This jam session will also be a special “Jazz night out” for any DC-area Indiana University (IU) alumni.

Graham (an IU music school jazz masters program grad himself) will be joined by a special house band of fellow Indiana University alums Joel Kelsey (bass) and Will Stephens (drums), along with Aleks Izotov (keys), and Connor Holdridge (guitar).

Graham is world-traveled musician and educator and can be seen playing all over, including with the U.S. Army Blues Band. Graham’s website is here.
